This has by far been the most amazing birthday of my life. My birthday weekend started with the birth of the first boy in my family. My new Nephew is a perfectly healthy bouncing baby boy. Our family couldn't be more happy. Too bad my birthday will never matter again but I'm glad to shift the spotlight to this little guy.
Saturday was so relaxing and wonderful it felt like a stay-cation. The guy I'm dating took me swimming and to lay out by the pool for a couple of hours. He then took me to a fun little sushi place he likes. After sushi dropped me off to relax before our date later that night. After a nice long nap I started to get ready and was so excited to wear the new dress I bought. I looked adorable! As a matter of fact I was vain in every mirror all night.
My date came bearing my favorite flowers and some fresh carrot juice (my favorite). He took me to the a really nice bistro in our city's eclectic neighborhood. Apparently his mother suggested the restaurant. Let me tell you thank goodness Mom has great taste. Every thing presented to us was such a sensual delight! Needless to say after dinner we were stuffed so he took me for a walk in the neighborhood behind the house he grew up in.
It was one of those "old money" Houston neighborhoods with giant old majestic Oaks lining the street and huge homes on giant lots. We walked down the brick pathway down the middle of the median on the street that was canopied by Oak branches. It was a quiet walk until we found ourselves in a circle shaped median in the center of a roundabout surrounded by 4 large fragrant Magnolia trees. I stopped and faced him and put my arms up around his neck and said "Thank you". He planted a big kiss on me and said "You're very welcome gorgeous".
Once we got back home he asked me how I refer to him to other people. I told him and then he asked what we have to do to get him to boyfriend status. He then asked me to officially be his girlfriend and even though he use to find the whole thing arbitrary he now sees some importance in it. I just kept quite and waited to hear what would come out next. Then he said he didn't know for sure he was ready to have a good relationship until he met me. WOW.
The next day which was last Sunday my actual birthday was no less amazing. We had lunch with some friends and then went to a gallery. After that we had a nice long nap then drove to the beach to watch the Sunset. On a blanket next to the shore I watched the Sun set on the past year of my life but it was more than that I watched the Sun set on the first half of my life. Now firmly in my womanhood it will be quite another adventure. After running around and playing in the shallow shore water we laid down our blanket and snuggled in the bright moon light. He looked at me and said "It's almost perfect" and I said "No it IS perfect". He put himself on top of me and kissed me and said "you're right it IS".
The following Tuesday I got a surprise call from the company I had interviewed with back in early July. The background check was done, the credit check was done and all the required signatures for approval had been obtained. I got the job!! Not only did I get the job I'm going to get paid $8K more a year and paid time and a half for overtime. Plus they are going to prorate me two vacation days to use from now until the end of this year. Added to this is a great benefits package and more than enough time off a year. Amazing!
