Moon in Scorpio

In the interests of brutal self examination, my favorite. I was thinking this morning about my dark side. In astrology there is more to a person than a Sun sign. Astrology is the ancient art of mapping archetypal energies in a person, event, place or business. I suppose people have used it for future prediction but I see it more as an oracle. A looking glass if you will. In not interested in getting into the esoteric depths of astrology or any new age mubo jumbo but like all that I've learned in life it has proven beneficial to me as helper in explaining the world around me and the world within. My Sun sign is Leo, Leos are all about heart felt expression, play, romance, creativity, fun, games, theater, drama, flamboyence, entertainment, playful expressive sex, children, openness, what your soul is tyring to express, your souls urge towards. The sun sign is the representation of your ego and what people find most obvious when they meet you. My Moon sign is Scorpio, Scorpio is about deep psychology, power plays, death and brith, regeneration, soul sex, sado-masochism, transformation, growing pains, jealousy, revenge, true intimacy, psychic bonds, shared resources, boundaries, mysticism, occult, sainthood. The moon sign is the representation of your emotional needs and patterns, your deep roots, who you are when you are able to simply "be" around someone. Only people that have close bonds with you will be able to pick up these qualities.

Last week I was watching a television show called "Ruby" with a friend. The show is about a seven hundred pound woman's journey to weight loss. What made this episode particularly interesting was the 6 day intensive Ruby and her overweight enabling friends were be put through. The lady conducting the intensive Tennie McCarthy was of great interest to me. She dressed in black and red the entire show and was merciless about drawing up pain in these women to release it. She had the techniques of a modern day psychologist but the intensity of a scary curendera or shaman or voodoo mambo. I was of course captivated! My friend's boyfriend was disturbed. This lady was made for "intensives" she started by putting them on a fast then introduced small portion healthy meals then led them into the underworld of deep rooted psychological pain and trauma. The result resistance, anger, emotional collapse, chaos, emotional vomiting. It was something to behold. I'm sure people that attend rehabs for drug abuse go though these intensives as well but maybe not. It seemed to me that the intestity of this "intensive was driven by the woman conducting it. As scary and harsh as she was her composure and clear handedness through out it was impeccable. Her keen intuition about when to give warmer motherly affections was perfect. Her conviction about what she was doing was unwavering. No doubt in my mind that this small old lady had been through this same wringer she was guiding this lady through. How else would she have been able to pull it off. How else could she maintain unwavering conviction and authority. How else could she put people through this process with out questioning her own ego desires. How else could she push these ladies despite their fear and hesitation.

She seemed to me to be very Scorpio Moon, the perfect example of what I do to myself and without knowing do to others that are close to me. An ex of mine even said once that he was hesitant to speak to me out of fear of being emotionally skinned alive. I gotta tell you the comment struck a cord and I thought "who me? sweet fun loving, sincere, codling and generous me?" This is the contrast of the Sun in Leo Moon in Scorpio person. Sun Leo and Moon in Scorpio celebrities include Alfred Hitchcock, Thurston Moore, Alex Haley, Stanley Kubrik, Chuck D, Mila Kunis. All of these celebs have entertained us (leo) with their expression (leo) of the darker aspects of life (scorpio). Other Scorpio Moons include Ian Curtis, Morrisey, Frida Khalo, Sharon Stone, Liz Taylor, Bruce Lee, Dave Burbeck, Kim Gordan, Gary Numan, Pat Benetar, James Dean, Henry Miller, Roger Waters, Houdini, Raymond Moody, Ru Paul, Miles Davis, Pedro Almodovar, Edie Sedgwick, Chrissie Hyde, Jennifer Tilly, Billy the Kid, Ridley Scott, Paul Reubens, Duchamp, Ricky Gervais, Eric Burdon, Charlie Caplin, Deigo Velasquez, The Undertaker, Julian Assange, George Harrison, Jenna Jameson,  Debi Mazar, Roberto Rossellini, Rick James, Tony Hawk, Nostradamus, J-Lo, Gregg Allman, Seth Macfarlane, Stienback, Hugh Cornwell, Langston Hughes, Linda Goodman, Robert Hand, Hegel, Beyonce, Dario Argento, M.I.A., Mark Rothko, Bram Stoker, Capote, Rembrandt, Martin Lawrence, Steve Biko, Harper Lee, Steve Martin, Will Ferrell, Will Smith, Lady Gaga, Bjork, Bob Marley, Nelson Mandela, Johnny Cash, Snoop Dog, Eddy Murphy, Brittany Murphy, Owen Wilson, Asia Carrera, Alanis Morrisset, Bette Middler and the list of intense people goes on (http://www.astrotheme.com/celebrities/moon/scorpio/1.htm). The discovery of all the outer planest Neptune, Uranus and Pluto all happened while the Moon was in Scorpio. I found this little excerpt online about Scorpio Moons that had me laugh in horror at myself.

"But have you ever been close to someone with this moon? Or rather is someone with this moon close to you? If they are, then have you noticed the Scorpio Moon pattern? Inevitably, if you spend enough time with them, they’re going to pull you deep into the intense emotional zone they live in. A moon driven to intensely look at and examine every emotion is going to make you do the same. They will take whatever it is and peel each layer and keep peeling till you’re both exhausted and sweating and naked. They get off on it, they need it. This intense communion of truth and revelation."

I had never thought of this as something I needed perse or even that hello most people can't and don't want to go there. The truth is I do need it. More for myself then to do to others but the processes I put myself through will inevitably affect those around me since I also have the need to share this process and the insights I unearth. Hence this blog of mine. Hence being of the Karamazovshina.

The rest of the article goes as follows "But if it’s not your style or if it’s something you feel uncomfortable with, then look away if you find a Scorpio Moon looking straight at you. Don’t engage them. It’s a subtle moon and it’ll pick up on your desire and leave you alone. But if you are drawn to them, then know that you’re headed into deep emotional territory. They feel things deeply, keenly and swim down into deep dark places where the pressure is unbearably intense and there is no escape. Always aware of death, they are that much more aware of life and have no fear. No one knows more that this moon that life is fleeting, our time limited and they don’t want to waste it on trivialities. If you like it light and fun, then run now. But if you’re not scared yet, then with no other moon will you feel so intensely, go so deep, be so aware, feel so connected. Is it true that people feel invisible, feel like no one notices them, feel disconnected, lonely? If you feel like that, and are feeling brave, hang out with this moon for a while and you’ll be seen."

No matter your opionion of astrology and it's validity the fact is that reflecting on the meaning behind my natal chart has proven to be an interesting and intimate experiance for certain aspects of  myself that edluded or confused me prior to learning astrology and becasue of that I have valued it and a tool towards gaining greater self acceptance and the accetpance of others.
